D This course enables profound and comprehensive exploration of

specialized topic areas within the framework of studying the culture

of the USA. An 'umbrella' theme will form the basis for the course's

specialization and will be investigated from various perspectives,

including literary, and/or linguisitc observations. Such themes may

be current affairs, identity, people and places, key documents, or a

similarly broad, relevant topic area. The focus and how the content

is approached will depend heavily on the course tutor's particular

research interests, especially regarding visiting scholars.
